PSY* 210 Death & Dying Credits: 3
This course explores the psychological and philosophical literature with reference to dying, near-death experiences and death. Through an extensive reading of the literature in the field, directed activities, and field trips, students will examine the process of grief and dying, with a particular emphasis on the prevailing view of death in American society. An examination of humane possibilities for funeral, bereavement and terminally-ill counseling will also be included. Students will be encouraged to consider their own mortality and its meaning to the process of living. TAP Competency: Social Phenomena Knowledge & Understanding
