MUS* 148 Beginning Piano Credits: 3
An introduction to the piano where students will learn the piano keyboard and acquire the basic skills to read general music notation as related to the piano. It assumes no previous experience in piano playing or general music background. The application of basic chords and scales will be covered. Students will also receive a foundation in music theory and appreciation as it relates to the piano. Folk, rock, and jazz genres and the piano’s place in those styles will be explored. Prerequisite: none TAP Competency: Appreciation of the Aesthetic Dimension of Humankind
