CHE* 232 Introduction to Environmental Chemistry Credits: 4
Applications of the principles of chemistry towards the environment will be studied. The interrelationship between the cycles of air, soil, and water will be the foundation to identify and explain the impact of humans and industry. Topics such as ozone formation/ destruction, acid rain, greenhouse effect, dissolved metals, soil structure, and sewage treatment will be covered. Laboratory work will focus on the quantitative measurements of water, soil, and air samples. Field work will be included. There will be three hours of lecture and three hours of lab each week. Prerequisite: CHE* 121 or higher, with a C grade or better
